What is AHA acid?
Alpha hydroxy acids are a group of natural and synthetic acids that are widely used in skin care. The most common natural sources of AHA acids are fruits (e.g. apples, lemons, grapes) and milk (e.g. lactic acid). The extracts are filtered, purified and concentrated. This process allows the AHA content of skin care products to be controlled, thus ensuring the desired cosmetic effect.

The effect of AHA acids on the skin:
Their primary function is their keratolytic effect, which means that they promote the removal of dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This process results in a smoother, more even skin surface.
Exfoliating the skin also stimulates collagen production, which contributes to skin firmness and elasticity. They have natural moisturizing factors that help bind water in the skin, thus increasing its hydration. Some AHA acids, such as glycolic acid, have antioxidant properties that help protect the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals. They can effectively reduce hyperpigmentation and improve skin tone, promoting skin cell renewal.
