Cymbopogon flexuosus, also called Cochin grass, East-Indian lemon grass or Malabar grass, is a perennial grass native to India, Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand. It is placed in the genus Cymbopogon (lemongrasses).
Its essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the freshly cut leaves. The oil is anti-infective, stimulates lymph circulation, anti-inflammatory, and insect repellent.
Rich in flavonoids, it is anti-inflammatory and protects the skin.
It is mainly used in cosmetics due to its oil-absorbing and deep-cleansing properties.
It strengthens the skin's protective layer, reduces water loss, and minimizes environmental stress.
Glycine, other amino acids, sugars, and electrolytes, forms the skin's natural moisturizing factor.
